I owned my own retail business for over 18 years and know first-hand the frustration of not having this knowledge. Many years ago, I asked my then-accountant what I could do to grow my business and make it more profitable. After some hem-hawing around with no real answers, I left feeling very frustrated and disappointed. I want better for you!
I’ve enjoyed keeping books since I was a teenager - always balancing my checkbook each month and always to the penny! I’m like the Energizer Bunny - searching and searching until I’m balanced to the penny on those rare times it doesn’t happen the first go ‘round. I began keeping them for my husband’s farm and cattle operation in 1987, and continued to grow my skills as I kept the books for my own retail business from 1999 through 2018.
When I'm not working, I can often be found at one of my granddaughters' volleyball or basketball games. Playing board or card games is a favorite pastime, and I love the challenge of difficult jigsaw puzzles - love 1,000 piece or larger! I'm also an avid reader and I'm always learning. I could be a perpetual student!
A little quirk of mine - I always want a cup of coffee whenever I’m eating ice cream!
Team member, Amanda Coleman, has been trained in all aspects of bookkeeping for J&A Bookkeeping. As a former custom picture framer, she’s very detail-oriented and a perfectionist. Ideal traits for a bookkeeper.
Unfortunately we know that things happen like sickness or accidents. By having Amanda working alongside Janis, you have the comfort of knowing there’s always someone working on your books, so you’re never left in a lurch.
Most of Amanda's spare time is spent with her husband and four children. They recently purchased a new home on a few acres and are enjoying fixing up their place. She also loves to read.
